FAQ

Will my new system have to be inspected by the city/county inspection department after the installation?
Yes, NC mechanical code requires this.

What are my payment options?
We accept cash, check, Master-Card, and Visa or we can arrange financing.

Why does Comfort Services require a 30% deposit?
We have to purchase the equipment and material before we start your project and it shows your commitment is just as strong as ours. Once we order equipment there is a re-stocking fee that is charged if we return it.

Will you remove my old equipment and dispose of it?
Yes, we remove all old equipment and recover any freon according to guidelines.

Do you use anything to protect my floors and furniture?
Yes, we have plastic sheeting on every truck and we make every effort to leave your home as clean as it was when we arrived.

What time should I expect a installation crew the day of service?
Our crews start their day at 7:30 AM, so they typically arrive at the customer’s house between 8-8:30 AM. Alternate times can be arranged with our Customer Service/ Sales Department.

Should I have an Energy Saving Agreement?
Absolutely, you wouldn’t run your car for 1 year without oil changes or inspections. Your heating and cooling system is a machine that needs regular service for maximum performance.

What is Puron?
It is an environmentally friendly refrigerant and the only freon use in HVAC system starting January 1, 2010.

Why can't I just change my outdoor unit equipment without having to change my indoor evaporator coil?
The newer Puron equipment use different freon and the two freon do not mix and will cause your new compressor to fail prematurely.

Can I place plants around my outdoor unit?
Yes, but make sure you keep clearance for proper airflow.

What is SEER?
SEER is an abbreviation for season energy efficiency rating and is a measure of how efficient a unit operates. A 13 SEER product for example would be more efficient than a 10 SEER unit.

How much will a 13 SEER A/C save me over my current system?
Typically most of the older units we replace have ratings of 8-10 SEERS, so you can expect savings in the 30-40% range on your cooling bill.

How much money will a 90% plus furnace save me over my current furnace?
Typically, older furnaces have an efficiency rating of 65% or less so your energy savings could be 25% or more depending on your usage and with installation of high efficiency equipment.

What is a 2 stage gas valve?
It is a gas valve that meters gas into your furnace and it has two stages; a high stage and a low stage.

Should I turn off my Air Conditioning during the day while no one is home?
No, raise the setting on the thermostat a few degrees. Up to 80-83 degrees will use less energy and still allow for the Air Conditioning system to recover when you lower the thermostat to your desired comfort level when you get home in the evening. A programmable thermostat can make this happen for you.
